10 January already. Better crank up the blog.
People who have done courses with me are already featuring in the news this year.
Three years ago I taught Benjamin Lee and his staff at Becws Mefus, Llangefni, to bake sourdough and went on to do a product development consultancy for him. Since then he has gone on to buy a couple more bakeries, set up Becws Môn and is now in the news for setting up the cafe at Menai Science Park. Click here to view.
Meanwhile over at Bodnant Welsh Foods, Hefin Roberts has been appointed Executive Chef. We know Hefin from the time we used to supply bread to the famous Loft Restaurant at the Bull at Beaumaris. And, yes, we ran a sourdough course for him too. Click here to view.
Then of course last year Dylans opened their third restaurant in Llandudno. During the planning stages for their first branch in Menai Bridge I ran a two-day bread course for the business partners and their prospective executive chef, Neil Davies, who went on to become executive chef of the three branches and who has now opened his own restaurant, Catch 22, in Valley.
Seems pretty clear. Want to get ahead? You need to do a bread course at Bethesdabakers.
And that’s with even mentioning the 10+ bakers who have done a microbakery course with me and established their own small bakeries.
And the dozens of home bakers who have learned sourdough with me for the pure pleasure of doing it.
Think I feel up to facing the new year after that …
All the best for 2018 Mick. … you certainly had an great influence on my bread making! Nothing but sourdough since your course. x
