The time has come for me to get rid of most of my proving baskets. They’ve been sitting around since I retired a few years ago with only a couple of them in regular use. I’m particularly fond of them, especially the Vanerie de Villaines baskets which are serious pieces of work and come at a serious price.
At the back:
27 x 1k round, lined cane baskets (Vannerie de Villaines)
9 x 500g round lined cane baskets (Matfer)
6 x 500g round rattan baskets
2 x 500g batard rattan baskets
1 x 1k baguette rattan basket
4 x 2k round, lined cane baskets (2 from Vannerie de Villaines)
2 x 1k couronne lined cane baskets (Matfer)
Just to give you some perspective, Vannerie de Villaines 1k baskets are currently 57.85 Euros each, 2k 80.00 Euros. Matfer’s 500g baskets are 28.20 Euros and couronnes 42.10 Euros.
While I’m not giving them away, my hopes are:
that they stay as a collection where they can make a significant contribution to an individual or group setting up a small scale bakery, rather that drift off in ones and twos as some already have done;
preferably that they stay in this area (North West Wales) which is lacking in good bread and needs small enterprises.
Failing this I’m open to suggestions/proposals.
Message me if you are interested/have ideas.
